Hey readers, welcome back to the blog! Today, I am excited to open up about my post-university journey, a narrative woven with challenges, growth, and an unwavering passion for positive change.
As I stepped into the world of volunteering post-university, the gap between classroom theories and real-world challenges hit me. But rather than back away, I dove into acquiring new skills. From learning to navigating online platforms for advocacy and documentation, it was a journey of continuous growth.
Embracing New Skills in the Face of Challenges.
Fast forward to the COVID-19 lockdown, where I utilized the time to enroll in courses with academies in mobile journalism, advocacy, communication, social movements and accountability among others. I recall in my Kazigo (Single room) composing content that restored hope to many during COVID-19 lock down, I also recall how I started live-shows, creating a space for discussions on pressing issues during those challenging times.
Surprisingly, those experiences paved the way for an incredible opportunity. I landed a role as an advocacy inspirator with ActionAid International Uganda. Working at an institutional level, I focused on building the capacity of young people, leaders, and social movements in digital advocacy. The transition from personal content creation to empowering others felt like a natural progression.

Contributing to Organizational Goals: A World Free from Poverty
Contributing to the organizational goals became a driving force - a vision for a world free from poverty and brimming with dignity. The organizational culture, diversity, and lessons from colleagues enriched my perspective. Incorporating ActionAid’s approaches such as feminist leadership principles and a human rights-based approach added depth to my advocacy work.
One of the most fulfilling aspects was empowering young minds. Together, with my constituency of young people whose capacities I enhanced, we revolutionized our approach to social media, transforming it from a pastime to a powerful tool for positive social change. I created an online crusade platform, focused on social accountability and good governance, sparked a movement advocating for improved service delivery and the relentless fight against corruption.
